(Washington, D.C., August 12, 2026) – The USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) has completed data collection for the Agricultural Yield Survey (AYS), which supports the August Crop Production report. The report will be released at 12:00 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026.

The August Crop Production report provides timely information used by producers to make marketing, production, and risk management decisions throughout the growing season. It also supports grain handlers, processors, exporters, input suppliers, lenders, crop insurers, commodity organizations, researchers, and policymakers.

“Producer participation in the Agricultural Yield Survey makes a difference in the quality of USDA’s data,” said Deputy Secretary Stephen Alexander Vaden. “This year's August Crop Production report not only reflects data from the Agricultural Yield Survey, but it also builds on our commitment to producers to make better use of information already available, reduce unnecessary reporting, and continue delivering the trusted statistics on which agriculture depends. By combining producer-reported yield information with FSA acreage data and sound statistical methods, USDA is improving the quality, objectivity, and integrity of our agricultural statistics.”

Producer-reported yield information remains the foundation of USDA's August production forecasts. This year, NASS has made greater use of acreage information reported to USDA's Farm Service Agency (FSA), allowing USDA to build on information producers have already provided while focusing the survey on the information only producers can provide—crop yields and current growing conditions.

The USDA thanks the producers across the country who participated in this year's AYS. Their participation helps ensure the August Crop Production report accurately reflects conditions across American agriculture. Producers’ information, combined with other USDA data and sound statistical methods, helps create one of the first nationwide forecasts of the 2026 crop year and ensures that the trusted agricultural statistics producers and markets rely on remain timely and accurate.
